Norman Jay is a true icon of the British music scene, from founding the Good Times Sound System (a Notting Hill Carnival institution) to co-founding the game-changing Kiss FM, he’s been shaping UK club culture for decades. With an MBE for services to music and DJing, and a brilliant biography (Mister Good Times) under his belt, Norman remains one of the most respected and in-demand DJs universally.

Why This Matters:

This initiative is part of Riot Noise’s wider mission: to empower emerging DJs, producers, and musicians by giving them real-world opportunities and long-term support.

Founded by music industry players Ronnie Traynor, Nicky Maciocia, and Ben Johnson, Riot Noise is a UK-based social enterprise offering everything from mentoring and tour support to writing camps and mental health advocacy.

The Riot Noise Truck — where this opportunity takes place — is more than a stage. It’s a symbol of what Riot Noise calls “circular artistry” – artists who are lifted-up early in their journey, then pay it forward to support the next wave.

In 2025, the Truck becomes the official second stage at Mucky Weekender Festival, hosting new up and coming talent side by side with icons such as Stanton Warriors, Leeroy Thornhill, A Skillz, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Freestylers, 2 Bad Mice, Woody Cook, Chris Hawkins (6Music) and of course Norman Jay MBE.
